The personal specifications of a Bishop of the Congress are expressed in the following points:

Be a person who comprehends the historic Christian faith, and its contemporary Evangelical, Pentecostal, Orthodox and Catholic expressions - who faithfully lives out a clear Christian faith, and to an extent respects the legitimate expression of other Churches.

Be a person of spiritual depth and liturgical intellectual breadth who is astute and, who through preaching and teaching, will bring a clear message, informed by scripture tradition and reason.

Be a loyal, prudent and committed leader of a member-Church of the Apostolic Congress, who brings practical wisdom to leadership in the episcopal area envisaged/assigned.

Be a prayerful, competent, hard working person with stability and stamina and who has high standards and expectations for others too.

Be a firm though considerate pastor, a listener and a communicator, who will both know the clergy and communities of their churches and parishes and be known by them.

Give attention to the formation of new clergy and licensed lay ministers of high caliber, who reflect the composition of the Church they serve and the community in which it is set.

Be a streetwise and an experienced priest of proven track record and ability, who is able to discern and respond positively to issues of ethnicity, gender, wealth and poverty, age and youth, culture, faith, and inter-faith.

Be able to relate to regeneration issues and public policies affecting the local community and church life in a specified area

Relate well to the denominations and faith leaders in an area, and represent the Congress in the area.

Understand and grasp the opportunities that a bishop is given, to exercise a prophetic, visionary and missionary role in society.
