ICDS'
North-South Economic Partnership |
 |
 |
|
The
Institute for Community and Development
Studies (ICDS) and its partners in the UK
work with creative leaders and professionals
who are demanded in the new paradigms requiring
them to provide leadership or co-ventures
in social economy, local economic footing,
and spiritual renewal in the communities.
We are promoting a North-South Economic
Partnership.
Between
September and December 2004, the North-South
Economic Partnership is concentrating to
stimulate the planning and development of
appropriate programmes and projects.

We
are looking to work with people from India and
Africa.
India
has got a lot to share with current African development
struggles. Some self-development schemes which
India has adopted in the last 25 years are suitable
for the present phase where African economic struggles
are at. For example, India has made good use of
its NRIs which African countries are looking also
to do. A survey confirms that there are business
prospects to adapt areas of Indian technology
and expertise for use in African countries - and
vice versa.
In
this four-month period, we are concentrating on:
·
Streamlining
processes
·
Repositioning
and refining products and services between the
two economic communities
·
Generating
new solutions to long-standing problems
·
Rethinking
core process within business
·
Developing
continuous improvement programmes
·
Facing
to dynamic capital and market movements
·
Increasing
market share in world trade
ICDS
and its partners have chosen London as an appropriate
international base to nurture this initiative
at this stage.

NOTE
We
recognize that while aspects of the work will
be stimulated, sustained or reinforced by ICDS
and its partners or agencies, the internal driving
vision must remain from the entrepreneurs, scholars,
and business/community leaders in India and Africa.
This
programme also opens opportunities for emerging
graduates and professionals in the economic blocs
around whom economic-development opportunities
exist.
